A Whole-Health Approach Helped Her Pursue the Future She Envisioned

Ashley didn’t expect this type of help from her health plan.

A difficult childhood and watching both of her sons begin their lives in a neonatal intensive care unit shaped Ashley’s passion for helping others. A home health aide for nearly two decades, she recently began working toward becoming a neonatal nurse. When a financial challenge stood in the way of her ability to take an important exam, she followed a teacher’s advice and connected with Dustin, a program coordinator with her Elevance Health-affiliated Medicaid plan.

Dustin helped Ashley access a voucher to cover the cost of the exam, as well as funding for essential school supplies. Today, Ashley is in nursing school, building a purpose-driven future for herself and her family. Dustin and the whole-health support he provided, she said, kept that future within reach.

“I know I am on the path to my goals, and I’m going to be successful,” Ashley said.
