Elevance Health Volunteer Days: Associates in Action to Combat Food Insecurity

Elevance Health Impact December 22, 2022

At Elevance Health, autumn doesn’t just mean falling leaves and the start of another school season. It’s also our annual season of service, when associates come together to give back to the communities where we live and work. In just two months — September and October 2022 — nearly 2,000 volunteers worked to combat food insecurity through 165 service projects. They sorted, packed, and distributed more than 575,000 pounds of food from Washington D.C. to Thousand Oaks, California, and locations in between.

“Giving back to the community is absolutely part of our corporate fabric,” said Lance Chrisman, president of the Elevance Health Foundation. “Our goal is to elevate and advance health for the greater good of our communities, and it all starts with healthy food.”

The service projects were planned and coordinated with Lions Club International Foundation, the charitable arm of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries and geographic areas. The projects were selected based on multiple factors, including proximity to Elevance Health offices and the organizations’ efforts to address food insecurity in their communities.
