Elevance Health volunteers recently helped renovate the weight room at Northwest Middle School in Indianapolis, transforming a fitness space previously created for high school students into a vibrant, age-appropriate environment that encourages movement, confidence, and healthy habits.

The project celebrates the Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tipoff — a premier college basketball tournament held in November — and marks the fourth year in a row Elevance Health has partnered with the Impact Fitness Foundation to upgrade a fitness space at an Indianapolis school. Volunteers removed older high school-level equipment, helped put down new turf and rubber flooring, and installed more developmentally suitable fitness gear, from air bikes and rowing machines to kettle bells and overhead bars.

“Ensuring students have the opportunity to move, grow, and thrive can extend beyond school walls to strengthen entire communities,” said Anita Allemand, Elevance Health’s chief growth officer. “When young people have access to safe spaces that support their physical and mental well-being, they can carry those healthy habits forward, creating ripple effects that benefit everyone.”
