Barry Gallagher’s family physician had been monitoring an aneurysm in his aorta for several years when Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield gave Barry a call. Anthem’s clinicians had reviewed the diagnosis and treatment plan and thought another pair of expert eyes might help strengthen Barry’s care plan. As an Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield member, Barry was eligible for a Complimentary Clinical Review with the Cleveland Clinic.

At no cost, the review allows plan members with complex specialty issues to find out if the Cleveland Clinic - an internationally recognized cardiac care center – can assist them with their care. In Barry’s case, the team of specialists concluded that surgical intervention would provide him the best outcome. “Anthem gave him his life back. If Anthem had not made the phone call to have him come to Cleveland clinic, I don’t believe he’d be with us today,” Sherry Gallagher, Barry’s wife said.
